Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Indian edition of Unum (https://unum.com.br/in/) and explains how your personal data is processed when you visit this website or contact us.

It is published under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, which apply until 13 May 2027. It is also designed to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, whose main provisions come into force on 13 May 2027. Where this policy refers to something that applies only from that date, it says so.

1. Who is responsible for your personal data

ETUS DIGITAL LLC (Florida Division of Corporations, Document No. L19000150138)
601 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 901, Miami, FL 33131, United States of America
Email: contact@unum.com.br

ETUS DIGITAL LLC operates this website and decides why and how the personal data described in this policy is processed (it is the “Data Fiduciary” under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). Questions about the processing of your personal data can be sent to contact@unum.com.br, and they will be answered on behalf of ETUS DIGITAL LLC.

Unum is an independent editorial website. It is not a bank, NBFC or card issuer, it does not submit applications on your behalf and it does not share your personal data with banks or financial institutions. When you click on a product, you go to the official website of the bank or financial institution, and any data you give there is processed under that institution’s own privacy policy.

2. Personal data we collect and how we collect it

Apart from the quizzes described below, we do not offer registration, applications or quotes. We collect:

  • Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, pages visited, date and time of your visit and referring page.
  • Online identifiers and information collected through cookies and similar technologies of Google (AdSense, Ad Manager and Analytics), Lotame and our own audience measurement tool (etus.io) (see section 5).
  • Your email address and the content of your message, when you email us.
  • Quiz data: your name, your email address and your answers, when you complete the credit card or loan quizzes hosted at responda.unum.com.br.

We collect browsing data automatically through our servers, cookies and similar technologies when you visit the website, and contact data directly from you when you email us.

We do not ask for Aadhaar, PAN, bank account or card details, passwords, income, credit information or any other sensitive personal data or information. You can read the website without giving us your name. In the quizzes we ask only for your name, email address and answers to questions about your preferences. We do not ask for bank details, income or credit information, and we do not send your name or email address to Meta, TikTok or Google.

3. Why we use your personal data

Purpose Data
Displaying the website, keeping it secure and preventing abuse or fraud Browsing data
Measuring audience and improving content Browsing data and identifiers
Showing advertising, including personalised advertising, and measuring its performance Identifiers and browsing data
Answering your messages, requests and grievances Email address and message content
Working out your quiz recommendation and emailing you the result Name, email address and quiz answers
Sending you Unum newsletters and offers by email, only if you tick the optional box Name and email address
Measuring the ad campaigns that lead to the quizzes (Meta, TikTok and Google pixels) Online identifiers and browsing data
Complying with legal obligations and defending our rights Data needed in each case

Outside the quizzes, we do not use your personal data to recommend financial products to you or to send you offers, and we never use it to assess your creditworthiness.

From 13 May 2027, we will process your personal data on one of the grounds allowed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: your consent, given through a clear affirmative action, or a legitimate use, such as replying to an email you have chosen to send us. We do not treat continued browsing as consent.

In the quizzes at responda.unum.com.br, one on credit cards and one on loans, you answer questions about your preferences and the quiz recommends, as editorial guidance based on Unum’s reviews, the card or loan that makes most sense for you. The quizzes do not assess your credit, do not check credit bureaus, do not decide on approvals and do not receive applications. We use your name, email address and answers to work out the recommendation and to email you the result, using ETUS’s own email tool. We send you Unum commercial emails only if you tick an optional box, which is not pre-ticked, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Your quiz result does not depend on that box. From 13 May 2027, we will process quiz data on the basis of your consent or, for the quiz result, as a legitimate use where you voluntarily give us your name and email address for that purpose. We will send commercial emails only on the basis of your consent, given through the optional box, and you can withdraw it at any time.

4. Advertising

Unum is funded by advertising served by third-party networks, including Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), and, where indicated in the settings panel, by other advertising partners.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising at https://myadcenter.google.com/.

Lotame, an audience data platform, may also use cookies and identifiers to build interest segments used to personalise ads. You can find out how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

The quizzes at responda.unum.com.br are landing pages for ads that Unum runs on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Google. If you accept advertising cookies in the consent banner shown on the quiz page, the Meta, TikTok and Google pixels and tags are activated to measure which ads lead to the quizzes (conversions). The providers are Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd./Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok Technology Limited/TikTok Inc. and Google. If you do not accept, they are not activated and you can still complete the quiz. Advanced matching (Meta and TikTok) and enhanced conversions (Google) are turned off, so your name and email address are not sent to these networks. The quizzes do not show Google Ad Manager ads.

If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work.

From 13 May 2027, where cookies process personal data on the basis of consent, we will ask for your consent before using them, and you will be able to withdraw it at any time as easily as you gave it. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

  • Other data collected through cookies: for the period set for each cookie.

We may keep data for longer where the law requires it or to deal with a dispute.

9. Security

We use reasonable security practices and procedures appropriate to the data we process, such as encrypted connections, access controls and system monitoring. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law.

10. Your rights

You may:

  • obtain a summary of the personal data we process about you and of the processing activities, and the identities of the others with whom we have shared it;
  • ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your personal data;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, where we process your personal data on the basis of consent;

If we need to confirm your identity, we will ask only for what is strictly necessary. Making a request is free. Some of these rights are set out in the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 from 13 May 2027, but you can use them now.

11. Grievances

To raise a grievance about how we process your personal data, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy grievance” and describe what happened.

  • Until 12 May 2027, we will respond within one month of receiving your grievance.
  • From 13 May 2027, we will respond within 90 days of receiving your grievance at the latest.

From 13 May 2027, if you are not satisfied with our response, or we do not respond within that period, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

12. Children

This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18, and we do not track or monitor the behaviour of children or direct targeted advertising at them. If we find that we have collected a child’s personal data, we will delete it.

13. Third-party websites

Our content links to the official websites of banks and other financial institutions. Those websites have their own privacy policies, for which Unum is not responsible.
