This Privacy Policy applies to the Pakistan edition of Unum (https://unum.com.br/pk/) and explains how your personal data is processed when you visit this website or contact us.
Pakistan does not currently have a comprehensive data protection law in force; a Personal Data Protection Bill is pending in Parliament. Until it becomes law, we process personal data in line with the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, which prohibits unauthorised use of personal information, and with generally accepted principles of transparency, purpose limitation, security and respect for your choices. If a data protection law comes into force, we will update this policy.

ETUS DIGITAL LLC operates this website and decides why and how the personal data described in this policy is processed (the controller of that data). Questions about the processing of your personal data can be sent to contact@unum.com.br, and they will be answered on behalf of ETUS DIGITAL LLC.
Unum is an independent editorial website. It is not a bank, NBFC, microfinance bank or card issuer, it does not submit applications on your behalf and it does not share your personal data with banks or financial institutions. When you click on a product, you go to the official website of the bank or financial institution, and any data you give there is processed under that institution’s own privacy policy.
2. Personal data we collect and how we collect it
We do not offer registration, forms, applications or quotes. We collect:
- Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, pages visited, date and time of your visit and referring page.
- Online identifiers and information collected through cookies and similar technologies of Google (AdSense, Ad Manager and Analytics), Lotame and our own audience measurement tool (etus.io) (see section 5).
- Your email address and the content of your message, when you email us.
We collect browsing data automatically through our servers, cookies and similar technologies when you visit the website, and contact data directly from you when you email us.
We do not ask for your CNIC, bank account or card details, passwords, income, credit information or any other sensitive personal data or information. You can read the website without giving us your name.

We do not use your personal data to recommend financial products to you, to send you offers or to assess your creditworthiness.
We process your personal data to provide and secure the website, with your consent where we ask for it (for example for non-essential cookies) and to reply to messages you choose to send us. We do not treat continued browsing as consent.
4. Advertising
Unum is funded by advertising served by third-party networks, including Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), and, where indicated in the settings panel, by other advertising partners.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this website and/or other websites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at https://myadcenter.google.com/.

Where a privacy and cookie settings panel is available in your region, you can use it to change your choices. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings and turn off personalised Google ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work.
Where a settings panel is available in your region, non-essential cookies are used according to your choice, and you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it. More details are in our Cookie Policy.
6. Who we share your personal data with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with banks or financial institutions. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers that host the website, deliver content, provide security, email and audience measurement, acting on our behalf and under our instructions.
- Google, other advertising partners and Lotame, as described in sections 4 and 5. They also process data under their own privacy policies, such as Google’s at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Government authorities and courts, where the law requires it.
7. Transfers outside Pakistan
ETUS DIGITAL LLC is located in the United States of America. Your personal data may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Google participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and our hosting and content delivery providers, Lotame and our own measurement tool are bound by contractual safeguards. We will comply with any restriction on cross-border transfers that Pakistani law imposes.
8. How long we keep your personal data
- Google Analytics event data: up to 14 months. The _ga cookie lasts up to 2 years.
- Logs from our own measurement tool and technical logs: 2 years, then deleted.
- Emails you send us: 2 years.
- Other data collected through cookies: for the period set for each cookie.
We may keep data for longer where the law requires it or to deal with a dispute.
9. Security
We use reasonable security practices and procedures appropriate to the data we process, such as encrypted connections, access controls and system monitoring. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the authorities as required by law.
10. Your rights
You may:
- ask whether we process personal data about you and obtain a summary of it;
- ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your personal data;
- withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, where we process your personal data on the basis of consent;
- object to the processing of your personal data;
- complain to us (section 11).
To exercise these rights, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request”, from the email address your request relates to, and tell us what you want. If we need to confirm your identity, we will ask only for what is strictly necessary. Making a request is free. We reply within 30 days.
11. Complaints
To complain about how we process your personal data, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy complaint” and describe what happened. We will reply within 30 days of receiving it. Pakistan currently has no data protection authority; if you are not satisfied with our reply, you may take the matter to the competent authorities or courts.
12. Children
This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly process the personal data of anyone under 18, and we do not track or monitor the behaviour of children or direct targeted advertising at them. If we find that we have collected a child’s personal data, we will delete it.
13. Third-party websites
Our content links to the official websites of banks and other financial institutions. Those websites have their own privacy policies, for which Unum is not responsible.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version will always be published on this page with its “Last updated” date, and we will flag significant changes on the website. Where a change requires your consent, we will ask for it.
