Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Mauritius edition of Unum (https://unum.com.br/mu/) and explains how your personal data is handled when you visit this website, take one of our quizzes or contact us. It has been prepared in line with the Data Protection Act 2017.

1. Who is responsible for your data

ETUS DIGITAL LLC (Florida Division of Corporations, Document No. L19000150138)
601 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 901, Miami, FL 33131, United States
Email: contact@unum.com.br

Questions, requests and complaints about how we handle personal data can be sent to contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request”.

Unum is an independent editorial website. It is not a bank or a lender, it does not submit applications on your behalf and it does not pass your data to financial providers. When you click on a product, you go to the provider’s official website, and any data you give there is the responsibility of that provider.

2. Data we collect

  • Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, language, pages visited, date and time of your visit and referring page.
  • Online identifiers and data collected through cookies and similar technologies, according to the choices available to you (see sections 4 and 5).
  • Contact details and the content of your messages, when you email us.
  • Quiz data: if you take one of our quizzes (credit card or loan) at responda.unum.com.br, your name, your email address and your answers to the quiz questions.

We collect this data through the website itself, through cookies and similar technologies, and from the emails you send us. We do not ask for identity documents, bank details, income or credit information, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data.

Our quizzes are editorial and for guidance only: based on your answers about your preferences, the quiz recommends the credit card or loan that makes the most sense according to Unum’s analyses. They do not assess your credit, do not consult credit bureaus, do not decide any approval and do not receive applications. The quizzes are used as landing pages for our ads on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Google.

You do not have to give us any personal data to read this website. Providing your contact details when you email us and your name, email address and answers in a quiz is voluntary, but without them we cannot reply to you or send you the quiz result. If you block cookies that are not strictly necessary, the website still works, but ads may be less relevant to you.

3. Why we use your data

Where we rely on your consent (for example, for the optional commercial emails in the quizzes and for advertising and measurement pixels), you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing carried out before you withdrew it. Where the privacy and cookie settings panel is available in your region, you can change your choice there. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser and turn off personalised ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/. You can unsubscribe from our commercial emails at any time using the link in each email or by writing to contact@unum.com.br. Quiz results are sent by email as part of the service you asked for.

4. Advertising

Unum is funded by advertising served by third-party networks, including Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), and, where indicated in the settings panel, by other advertising partners. These networks and their partners, and the audience data platform Lotame, may use cookies and identifiers to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites, according to the choices available to you. If you turn off personalised ads, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

You can find out how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and turn off personalised Google ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/.

Our quizzes at responda.unum.com.br include Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Google conversion pixels and tags, which measure the conversions of our ad campaigns. They run only if you consent through the Google Ad Manager consent banner (Consent Mode v2). Advanced matching (Meta and TikTok) and enhanced conversions (Google) are turned off, so your name and email address are not sent to these networks. The quizzes do not show Google Ad Manager ads.

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Cookies

The cookies and similar technologies we use, who sets them and how long they last are listed in our Cookie Policy. You can delete or block cookies in your browser. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data for money. We share it only as needed with:

  • Service providers that host the website (Google LLC, through Google Cloud, United States), deliver content (Cloudflare, Inc., United States), provide security, email and audience measurement (including our own measurement tool, with servers in the United States), acting on our behalf and under our instructions.
  • Google, advertising partners and Lotame, in line with the choices available to you (sections 4 and 5).
  • Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. and Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok Technology Limited and TikTok Inc., and Google, which receive conversion measurement signals from the pixels and tags on the quiz pages, only if you consent. Your name and email address are not sent to them.
  • Authorities and courts, where the law requires it.

The data you give in our quizzes (name, email address and answers) stays with ETUS DIGITAL LLC. We do not pass it to banks, lenders or other partners. Quiz emails are sent through our own email tool.

7. International transfers

ETUS DIGITAL LLC is established in the United States, so your personal data is processed there and, through our service providers, possibly in other countries. We transfer personal data outside Mauritius only as permitted by the Data Protection Act 2017, with appropriate safeguards or, where the law requires it, your consent. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and our hosting and content delivery providers, Lotame and our own measurement tool are bound by contractual safeguards for your information. You can ask for more information at contact@unum.com.br. Quiz data is hosted in the United States under the same safeguards.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Google Analytics event data: up to 14 months. The _ga cookie lasts up to 2 years.
  • Logs from our own measurement tool and technical logs: up to 2 years, then deleted or de-identified.
  • Emails you send us: up to 2 years.
  • Quiz data (name, email address and answers): up to 2 years, or until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe from commercial emails, if earlier.
  • Other data collected through cookies: for the period shown for each cookie in the Cookie Policy or the settings panel, or set by the third party.

When these periods end, we delete or de-identify the data.

9. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2017, you have the right to:

  • be informed of how your personal data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data and to erase or restrict the processing of your data, where the law allows it;
  • object to the processing of your data, including for direct marketing;
  • not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects on you;
  • withdraw your consent, where we rely on it; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commissioner.

To exercise your rights, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us which right you want to exercise. If we need to verify your identity, we will ask only for what is strictly necessary. Exercising your rights is free. We will respond without undue delay and in any case within one month of receiving your request; if we need more time, we will tell you why within that month.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius (https://dataprotection.govmu.org; email dpo@govmu.org).

10. Children

This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we find that we have, we will delete it.

11. Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, such as encrypted connections, access controls and system monitoring. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will handle it and notify the authority and the people affected as the law requires.

12. Third-party websites

Our content links to the official websites of banks and other providers. Those websites have their own privacy policies, for which Unum is not responsible.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version will always be published on this page with its date, and we will publish a notice of significant changes on the website before they take effect.
