Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Ghana edition of Unum (https://unum.com.br/gh/) and explains how your personal data is handled when you visit this website or contact us. It has been prepared in line with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

1. Who is responsible for your data

ETUS DIGITAL LLC (Florida Division of Corporations, Document No. L19000150138)
601 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 901, Miami, FL 33131, United States
Email: contact@unum.com.br

Questions, requests and complaints about how we handle personal data can be sent to contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request”.

Unum is an independent editorial website. It is not a bank or a lender, it does not submit applications on your behalf and it does not pass your data to financial providers. When you click on a product, you go to the provider’s official website, and any data you give there is the responsibility of that provider.

2. Data we collect

  • Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, language, pages visited, date and time of your visit and referring page.
  • Online identifiers and data collected through cookies and similar technologies, according to the choices available to you (see sections 4 and 5).
  • Contact details and the content of your messages, when you email us.

We collect this data through the website itself, through cookies and similar technologies, and from the emails you send us. We do not ask for identity documents, bank details, income or credit information, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data.

You do not have to give us any personal data to read this website. Providing your contact details when you email us is voluntary, but without them we cannot reply to you. If you block cookies that are not strictly necessary, the website still works, but ads may be less relevant to you.

3. Why we use your data

Purpose Data
Displaying the website, keeping it secure and preventing abuse or fraud Browsing data
Measuring audience and improving content Browsing data and identifiers
Showing advertising and measuring its performance Identifiers and browsing data
Answering your questions and requests Contact details and message content
Complying with legal requirements and defending our rights Data needed in each case

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing carried out before you withdrew it. Where the privacy and cookie settings panel is available in your region, you can change your choice there. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser and turn off personalised ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/.

4. Advertising

Unum is funded by advertising served by third-party networks, including Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), and, where indicated in the settings panel, by other advertising partners. These networks and their partners, and the audience data platform Lotame, may use cookies and identifiers to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites, according to the choices available to you. If you turn off personalised ads, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

You can find out how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and turn off personalised Google ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/.

We do not make decisions based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Cookies

The cookies and similar technologies we use, who sets them and how long they last are listed in our Cookie Policy. You can delete or block cookies in your browser. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work.

6. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data for money. We share it only as needed with:

  • Service providers that host the website (Google LLC, through Google Cloud, United States), deliver content (Cloudflare, Inc., United States), provide security, email and audience measurement (including our own measurement tool, with servers in the United States), acting on our behalf and under our instructions.
  • Google, advertising partners and Lotame, in line with the choices available to you (sections 4 and 5).
  • Authorities and courts, where the law requires it.

7. International transfers

ETUS DIGITAL LLC is established in the United States, so your personal data is processed there and, through our service providers, possibly in other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those of Ghana. We transfer data outside Ghana only with appropriate safeguards: Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and our hosting and content delivery providers, Lotame and our own measurement tool are bound by binding contractual safeguards for your information. You can ask for more information at contact@unum.com.br.

8. How long we keep your data

  • Google Analytics event data: up to 14 months. The _ga cookie lasts up to 2 years.
  • Logs from our own measurement tool and technical logs: up to 2 years, then deleted or de-identified.
  • Emails you send us: up to 2 years.
  • Other data collected through cookies: for the period shown for each cookie in the Cookie Policy or the settings panel, or set by the third party.

When these periods end, we delete or de-identify the data.

9. Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal data about you and obtain a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete personal data that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or obtained unlawfully;
  • require us, by written notice, to stop or not begin processing that causes or is likely to cause you unwarranted damage or distress;
  • object to the use of your data for direct marketing;
  • object to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you;
  • withdraw your consent, where we rely on it;
  • lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission; and
  • claim compensation before the courts where you suffer damage from a breach of the Act.

To exercise your rights, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us which right you want to exercise. If we need to verify your identity, we will ask only for what is strictly necessary. Exercising your rights is free. We will respond within 30 days of receiving your request; if we need more time, we will tell you why within those 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with Data Protection Commission of Ghana, Information Services Department, Third Floor, Accra (digital address GA-076-8230); email info@dpc.gov.gh; website https://dpc.gov.gh.

10. Children

This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over. Under Ghanaian law a child is a person under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we find that we have, we will delete it.

11. Security

We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, such as encrypted connections, access controls and system monitoring. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will handle it and notify the authority and the people affected as the law requires.

12. Third-party websites

Our content links to the official websites of banks and other providers. Those websites have their own privacy policies, for which Unum is not responsible.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version will always be published on this page with its date, and we will publish a notice of significant changes on the website before they take effect.
