This Privacy Policy applies to the Australian edition of Unum (https://unum.com.br/au/) and explains how your personal information is handled when you visit this website or contact us. It has been prepared in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
1. Who is responsible for your information
ETUS DIGITAL LLC (Florida Division of Corporations, Document No. L19000150138)
601 Brickell Key Drive, Suite 901, Miami, FL 33131, United States
Email: contact@unum.com.br
Unum is an independent editorial website. It is not a bank or a lender, it does not submit applications on your behalf and it does not pass your information to financial providers. When you click on a product, you go to the provider’s official website, and any information you give there is the responsibility of that provider.
2. Information we collect and how we collect it
- Browsing data: IP address, device and browser type, language, pages visited, date and time of your visit and referring page.
- Online identifiers and information collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).
- Contact details and the content of your messages, when you email us.
- Quiz data: your name and email address, when you give them in the credit card and loan quizzes hosted at responda.unum.com.br, and your answers to the quiz.
We collect this information directly from you when you email us, and automatically through our servers, cookies and similar technologies when you visit the website. We hold it electronically on systems operated by us or by our service providers.
We do not ask for identity documents, bank details, income or credit information, and we do not collect sensitive information. You can read the website without giving us your name.
In the quizzes we ask only for your name and email address, and we do not send your name or email to Meta, TikTok or Google. The quizzes help you find, in an editorial and guidance-only way, the credit card or loan that best fits your preferences, based on Unum’s reviews. They do not assess your credit, do not check credit bureaus, do not decide any approval and do not receive applications.
3. Why we use your information
| Purpose | Data |
|---|---|
| Displaying the website, keeping it secure and preventing abuse or fraud | Browsing data |
| Measuring audience and improving content | Browsing data and identifiers |
| Showing advertising and measuring its performance | Identifiers and browsing data |
| Answering your questions and requests | Contact details and message content |
| Creating the quiz recommendation and emailing you the result | Name, email address and quiz answers |
| Sending you news, comparisons and commercial emails from Unum, only if you tick an optional, unticked box | Name and email address |
| Measuring the ad campaigns that lead to the quizzes (Meta, TikTok and Google), only with your consent | Online identifiers and browsing data |
| Complying with legal requirements and defending our rights | Data needed in each case |
Where a privacy and cookie settings panel is available in your region, you can change your choices there at any time. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser and turn off personalised Google ads at https://myadcenter.google.com/.
4. Advertising and automated decisions
Unum is funded by advertising served by third-party networks, including Google (Google AdSense and Google Ad Manager), and, where indicated in the settings panel, by other advertising partners. These networks and their partners, and the audience data platform Lotame, may use cookies and identifiers to show you ads based on your visits to this and other websites. If you turn off personalised ads, you may still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing profile.
You can find out how Google uses information from sites that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The quizzes at responda.unum.com.br are landing pages for ads that Unum runs on Meta (Facebook and Instagram), TikTok and Google. If you accept advertising cookies in the Google Ad Manager notice on that page, the pixels and tags of those networks are activated to measure which ads lead to the quizzes. If you do not accept them, those pixels are not activated and you can still complete the quiz. We keep Meta and TikTok advanced matching and Google enhanced conversions turned off, so your name and email address are not sent to those networks. No Google Ad Manager ads are shown in the quizzes.
We do not use computer programs to make, or to do things substantially and directly related to making, decisions that could reasonably be expected to significantly affect your rights or interests. Automated systems are used only to measure audience and to select which ads are displayed.
5. Cookies
We use the following cookies and similar technologies:
| Type | What they do | Who sets them | Examples and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Make the website work, keep it secure and store your cookie choices | Unum (first party) | Session or as shown in the settings panel |
| Analytics | Count visits, show where traffic comes from and how the website is used | Unum, through its own measurement tool (etus.io), and Google Analytics (third party) | __br_* (own measurement tool); _ga (up to 2 years) |
| Advertising | Show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and personalise ads | Google and other advertising partners (third parties) | Google advertising cookies |
| Quiz campaign measurement | Measure which Meta, TikTok and Google ads lead to the quizzes, only with your consent | Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. / Meta Platforms, Inc., TikTok Technology Limited / TikTok Inc. and Google (third parties) | Pixels and tags of each provider; duration set by each provider |
| Audience data | Build interest segments used to personalise ads | Lotame, an audience data platform (third party) | panoramaId, _cc_id |
The quizzes at responda.unum.com.br show the same cookie notice. The Meta, TikTok and Google pixels are not activated until you accept advertising cookies.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website may not work.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only as needed with:
- Service providers that host the website, deliver content, provide security, email and audience measurement, acting on our behalf and under our instructions.
- Google, advertising partners and Lotame, as described in sections 4 and 5.
- Quiz data (name, email address and answers): only ETUS DIGITAL LLC and the hosting and email-sending providers that process it on our behalf. It is not passed to banks, lenders or commercial partners.
- Meta, TikTok and Google, only for the browsing identifiers collected by the pixels and only if you accept advertising cookies.
- Authorities and courts, where the law requires it.
7. Overseas disclosure
ETUS DIGITAL LLC is located in the United States, so the information we collect is held and processed there. We are likely to disclose personal information to service providers and advertising partners located overseas, mainly in the United States and in other countries where those providers operate. Before we do so, we take reasonable steps to ensure that they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles: Google participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and our hosting and content delivery providers, Lotame and our own measurement tool are bound by contractual safeguards. Quiz data is hosted in the United States with the same safeguards. Meta and TikTok may process pixel data in the United States and other countries, under the safeguards each company states in its own terms. You can ask for more information at contact@unum.com.br.
8. How long we keep your information
- Google Analytics event data: up to 14 months. The _ga cookie lasts up to 2 years.
- Logs from our own measurement tool and technical logs: up to 2 years, then deleted or de-identified.
- Quiz data (name, email address and answers): up to 2 years, or until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe, whichever comes first for commercial emails.
- Emails you send us: up to 2 years.
- Other information collected through cookies: for the period set for each cookie.
9. Access and correction
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.
To do so, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us what you want. If we need to verify your identity, we will ask only for what is strictly necessary. Making a request is free. If you receive commercial emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email or by writing to contact@unum.com.br.
We will respond to access and correction requests within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why in writing and how to complain.
10. Complaints
To make a privacy complaint, email contact@unum.com.br with the subject line “Privacy complaint” and describe what happened. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and give you a written response within 30 days explaining our findings and any action we will take.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at https://www.oaic.gov.au.
11. Children
This website is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we find that we have, we will delete it.
12. Security
We use technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, such as encrypted connections, access controls and system monitoring.
13. Third-party websites
Our content links to the official websites of banks and other providers. Those websites have their own privacy policies, for which Unum is not responsible.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The current version will always be published on this page with its date, and we will flag significant changes on the website.
