What you pay in interest and monthly card fees
Your interest rate varies with your risk profile; see your quote or statement. The 5% minimum repayment must reach Nedbank by the due date during banking hours.
Nedbank charges R68 monthly plus a R31 credit facility fee, variable by risk profile up to R69. Both include VAT and apply from 1 January to 31 December 2026.
The income, credit and documents you need for Gold
For Nedbank’s American Express or Mastercard Gold, you need:
- Have a good credit score.
- Live in South Africa with valid SA ID or valid passport and work permit.
- Be over 18 and earn at least R6,600 a month before tax.
- New online clients need a Nedbank ID.
- Provide 3 months’ payslips or 3 months’ stamped bank statements.

What expenses will I still pay when I use my Gold Companion Ticket?
You pay all taxes, fees, levies, charges and surcharges, including the fuel levy, on top of the paid SAA ticket.
Does Mastercard earn rewards after R100,000 eligible spend per billing cycle?
No further Miles or ticket credit accrue that calendar month. Refunds cut eligible spend. Fuel is excluded. Spending won’t stop Miles expiring.
What happens if I miss my card payment due date?
There is no late fee, but overdue sums, including interest, fees and charges, incur interest, administration and collection costs.
