Gold requires a Credit Card Protection Plan or alternative cover with all required benefits. You must be over 18 and earn at least R5 000 monthly.

What you pay for credit and for keeping Gold

Your interest is personalised and variable, linked to Prime by your contract’s margin. Cash transactions, including petrol, attract interest immediately if they leave a debit balance.

Standard Bank’s standalone Gold costs R64 monthly: R40 service and R24 card fees. The once-off initiation fee is R200. These fees include VAT.

Which South African residence statuses qualify for Liberty cover?

For Liberty, live here permanently as a citizen or permanent permit holder. Alternatively, live and work here on a valid work permit or visa.

Can you replace the compulsory credit protection plan with your own cover?

Give 31 days’ notice to replace the plan and submit details of cover to cede within that period. It must cover all the plan’s benefits.

How are your credit protection premiums charged?

Monthly premiums go on your card and can incur interest. They vary with debt; see your certificate. Pay within 31 days of falling due.

Can you get your Gold card delivered for free?

Standard face-to-face or branch delivery is free. Express delivery to either your branch or you costs R500 for Gold.
