Your separate The Lounge allowance and which credits repay your balance
From 1 January 2026, R23,600 average monthly spend gives you up to 12 domestic and four international departure visits yearly at OR Tambo, Cape Town, King Shaka and Chief Dawid Stuurman.
Rewards, Dynamic Interest Rates refunds, purchase refunds, bank-initiated credits and transfers within your credit line don’t count as line repayments.
What budget purchases and your account cost
Budget purchases accrue interest immediately over 6 to 60 months. Longer terms mean more total interest. You pay no penalty for early budget repayment.
Discovery Bank charges R275 monthly with VAT. The R55 credit-line fee is waived for limits below R1,000 and capped at R69 across linked accounts. Usage costs extra.

Without South African citizenship or a permanent-residence ID, which links qualify?
A pre-bank Discovery Card, active Discovery Health-administered medical aid or active Discovery Life, Invest or Insure policy qualifies.
Do foreign policyholders need a visitor section 11(6) or permanent resident visa?
Yes. With an eligible Discovery policy, you need one of those two visas to apply for credit. It must expire over 12 months after you apply.
Can I move my existing credit between linked accounts?
Move only unused credit between linked accounts, not credit already used. Keep at least R1,000 allocated to your card account.
How soon can I use my Black Card after account activation?
After activation, add a virtual card in-app to start transacting immediately. Deposit at least R250 to order a physical card in-app.
